Welcome to my Welland Canal photography.

I moved to the Niagara area in 2005 and drive to Welland every day for work. I decided that since I was so close to the canal I might as well commit some of what I saw to imagery. I've photographed railway scenes for quite some time and the canal traffic holds some of the same appeal to me.

So, with camera in hand and using the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway ship tracking website I started photographing ships all along the Welland Canal from Port Weller to Port Colborne. I began to explore interesting photo locations along the canal and I've tried to photograph ships in a variety of scenery. I particularly like using the old guard gate as a prop. After photographing a decent number of ships I decided to put together this web site to share them with anybody else that might find them interesting. Additionally it gave me an excuse to try some new things with web sites as an exercise.

So I present to you my collection of Welland Canal photography. Please enjoy the photos but please don't use them for any commercial purposes or include them on another web site without my permission. You can feel free to e-mail me at .
